Message to parents: For KS3, I encourage students to have a Personal Study folder where they can keep a record of the books they read independently. There is a task sheet in that folder which suggests different ways to respond to their books. Students can respond in any creative way they wish through writing and illustration. I love to see their responses so please encourage as much reading, writing and drawing as possible, whether in an armchair, in or under their bed. You could listen to your child reading aloud while you are washing up. Reading will help improve spellings, develop vocabulary and consolidate grammar. Above all, reading good books helps us understand and appreciate our insane behaviour - as well as everyone else's!
